I'd acid wash them and polish.

Yup, good acid wash, and a good cutting before polishing would make them look a lot better.

Sorry....those are clear coated and the insides are painted I believe. You'll need to get some aircraft remover after them then sand like hell to remove those fine machine marks and corrosion. It'll be a pita job......but do all 4 and clear them with some urethane automotive clear and they'll be awesome looking.

I'll see how they look after the "quick-n-dirty" clean up. I think I have all the stuff mentioned, so I'd just have time invested.

I've heard a lot about acid washing aluminum. What kind of acid do you use? and what is the final result? Does it just remove the oxidation leaving dull aluminum that needs polished back up or is it semi bright? How hard would it be to do a large area, say a diamond plate aluminum flatbed?

It leaves a dull finish that needs polished. With the right applicator an aluminum flatbed wouldn't be a problem.

First time I did The Roo Hunters wheels I acid washed them. It took every bit of the brown out of them, and after some polishing they were nice, and shiny

Ellis, these are not painted, just clear coated. I definitely think I can bring them back without much effort.

Nathan, I use this stuff. You can usually find it at truck stops.

Dad used it on these without any polishing. They had brake dust and winter road grime on them.

For larger areas, I use a 2 gallon garden sprayer.

Don't reckon i have looked at them that hard Caleb. I've pull a bunch off and just look for granted that the insides of the big holes were painted.

Ellis, there is indeed paint on the inside of the holes. It's silver and the clear coat was so crappy I was deceived. I scrubbed 1/4 of the rim clean in 5 minutes and then it started to rain.

Now I have an alignment question. If a truck has been lifted in the front, does it need re-aligned? I have slight wear on the outsides of my tires and I want to blame the lift throwing off the steering gear angles.

Yes it will affect alignment.

A lift won't affect a straight axle's toe measurement, does your truck have the TTB setup?

It is a Stupid Duty, SFA. TTB left for good with that generation. Thank you God.

Depends how long its been running those bigger tire. Super duty like to wear out ball joints and unit bearings causing tire wear.
