Fender exit exhaust?

Postby 9312v » Wed Oct 07, 2015 4:57 pm

A tuner friend of mine is trying to talk me into doing a fender exit for my compound setup. The more I think about it the easier it seems and my fender is all rusted and cracked anyways..

Thoughts?

The passenger side has the most clear coat peeling and other "rust belt" imperfections.

You talking just dumping it out the bottom of the fender, by the wheel, or running the exhuast pipe down the inner fender and out side the frame to the rear?
If it dumps right behind the front tire, it will be extremely loud in the cab, as well as smoke you out. Buddy has a Chevy CUCV with a turbo 6.5 ( I know, apples to oranges) and his dumps right behind the front tire. Not only I ear plugs and ear muffs required, but the smoke and the exhaust resonance and pressure really make it uncomfortable for the passenger.
I think you'll be surprised how much room you dont have, if you consider the tire and where it moves as you cycle the suspension. I'm running fender exhaust on a project, and it was the only way I could run it, and it took some custom piping and alot of extra work.
Just my .02, its your project, and either way would be cool

My jeep has a front exit exhaust and any one who rides with me complains about the noise and smell.

I hadn't thought about the resonance that it would put off. Not really worth it if I just end up doing it again for a down pipe and full exhaust.

If the fenders are rusted then chances are you cab has rust perforations. Dumping the exhaust ahead of the cab where exhaust gases could enter get sucked into the cab probably isn't a gamble that I personally would undertake.
