I buy the biggest group 31 I can get. Napa carries a 1250cca, but its upwards of $150. Usually run Carquest HD, which is 1150cca. In the fall the big truck shops have battery sale, I bought 2 off brand 31's they were 925cca, but were only $75 plus core.
My truck is running the Carquest HD, since I didn't want to pony up for the Napa screwing.

Deka is made in Wabash Indiana. They also sell under other names I can't remember right now.

I haven't used one so I don't know how good they are. I know a few people that have worked there. They said it was a good built battery.

I use NAPA group 31's with the highest amp ratings.

I run Dekas in the 2nd gen, good batteries. I had Carquest batteries in it, and 1 died when they were about a year old. The pro-rate was a little over 1/2 the price of a new one, so I threw in a used battery I had and when the 2nd one died I went to the Dekas. I hated the carquest ones, they out gassed all the time and my terminals were always all corroded and crappy.

Dual Optima's. The "cleaner" looking one is eight years old and the other is well over ten years old. I know some people don't like them, but I am a huge fan of any AGM battery. We had Hawker brand 6TL's in the military, those things are flat out impressive.

I thought the 6TL's were a lead acid battery? Just picked up a M35A2 that needs batteries, and wouldn't mind using 6tl's versus a std size battery

Well, 6TL size. The proper model number I am not sure of.

Edit: 6TAGM is the Hawker battery.

Thanks for the tip. Never knew 6TL's came in an AGM style battery. Gonna do some searching and see what I can find

Hey guys wondering if anyone what could be wrong with a 93 dodge 350 diesel, the fuse panel fell down and why the person put it back up the truck now has no power. Battery is good, grounds are clean and tight. I have power going into the fuse panel to the hazard relay but no where after that. All fuses are new, and no disconnected wires to the panel. Thanks

Sounds like 1 or more of the fusible links by the battery is bad. Several feed the fuse box.

FYI, you should start your own thread about this. Welcome to the site!

I was just wondering myself that should i put dual batteries or one big. Both needs some modifications to battery tray.
My local seller offered one big battery for good price so I bought one of them. 180ah and 1100cca.

I live in latitude 62 and we have some cold winter months so I need power to my eberspacher and starter for cold starts.
Truck is my daily driver so it must be reliable.

Wow. I have never seen what we call a Group 4D battery in a 1st gen. 8)
With that, you don't even need the truck to run, if you have a 5 speed you can drive to work on the starter!
