Mine was never very loud even at wot with a single turbo. Now it's almost whisper quiet out the exhaust with the compounds (this is with the exhaust pointing towards the drivers side, and exiting just above the frame in the engine bay) couldn't really hear it at wot either. The Roo Hunter actually rattles less than my 6.7 on a single event tune

Is there any difference in exhaust note with a single injection event?

There is not.

Possibly, but my 6.7 is only running 8* at idle at 9000psi rail pressure

I had a diamond eye straight pipe set up and I thought it was obnoxiously loud. With the windows up inside the truck it wasn't bad around town, but with the window down when driving along a wall or line of buildings it was too loud. I can only imagine how bad it was for those that had to listen to my truck. I slide my truck into a snow bank and kinked the exhaust where it goes over the axle and had to cut it off just prior to that, it was even worse at highway speeds. I finally got the DE muffler and can honestly say it is much better like that. I don't fell like I'm losing my hearing after long highway drives and can enjoy my stereo. I don't feel like I lost any power with the muffler and can say now that I feel like I'm not waking the dead as I drive it.

Is a 4" system that much louder than factory diameter?

Factory had a muffler, so any system without a muffler will be louder, 3,4,5", whatever. Obviously too loud is an individual thing. For me, the 4" straight pipe was too loud. On long highway trips, which is most of the use my truck gets, it was loud enough in the cab to get annoying and overpower the radio. Around town it wasn't too bad at low speeds, but to those outside the truck it was annoyingly loud as well. I got the chance to listen to it when my wife was driving home on our long driveway. If you don't care how loud your truck is outside, then I guess it's fine. I live in a very rural area, and even with my nearest neighbor 1/4 mile away, I'm sure he could hear me coming home. I finally added the muffler to my 4" Diamond Eye system and am happy with the sound of it with a muffler.

As to a 4" muffled system Vs stock, I can't say since my truck had an aftermarket 3" system on it when I bought it.

A larger diameter system will have a deeper tone than a smaller one, just like gasser cars. Smaller is rappy, larger is deep and throaty.

Alright.
Like flipping a switch, exhaust note becomes much more noticeable as soon as I hit 1750 rpm, is that just resonance in the piping? I don't mind since it isn't overly loud to me

If you do you can always just add another turbo to the mix, and she'll quiet right down

Dear Spences' Mom,

Due to a recent development at his last physical it has been determined that he needs to be limited on his exposure to loud noises. Thus we find it necessary that a larger turbocharger sound arresting device is needed on his vehicle.
