Still thinking about Triples

Postby DodgeFreak » Wed Aug 17, 2016 6:14 pm

I'm thinking about dropping one of my cummins into my 77 short bed and have thought about triple turbos for awhile. I would use a he351 and 2 h1c's. One has a 16cm and if I can find my other housing one would have an 18. or I could go with the 16cm and a 12cm. or a 12cm hx35 and a 16cm h1c but I don't have another 12 or 16. I'm going to be fairly stock so I'm guessing I wouldn't even notice the difference. any thoughts?

Ideally it'd be best to run the tightest turbine sides possible on the primaries. Given that there's two of them they won't choke out given the ve's fuelling capabilities. Perhaps blocking one of the scrolls on the 18 (theoretically creating a 9cm housing) would be a decent option along with the 12 for the other primary. If you could somehow source a pair of hy35's (or if their 9cm housings fit the other cartridges then just sourcing the housings) that'd be an interesting way to do the primaries.

The hy's housings won't fit the H1c\hx35s. so if I was to source hy's I would step up on to the he351's since you're not talking a lot more money. I'm wanting to do this on a tight budget and see how far you can go with little money invested, since a lot of first gen owners are tightwads (myself included lol)

Piping size from the secondary's to primaries is typically 3.5?

I've seen some duramaxs that run 3" hotopipes, mine right now is 4", and I've seen a lot of cummins running 4", but I'm going to try 3.5" when I can afford to get the sx-e's, and new manifold since I'm not all that tight with my money.

If you could do the whole triples setup for as much as my s467 cost me I'd be pretty impressed.

Rough estimate on the cost of the s467? I think I'm going to try cuz a wife and 3 kids puts a damper on my spending lol.

I was looking around on compd and one guy is running a 3" hot pipe. I'm wondering if 3" will help with volecity

Cost about $1500 after exchange, and shipping.

3" would make for an increase in exhaust velocity. I don't know how much it'd impact the primaries spooling though.

My buddy Harvey built a set for his rat rod, and they work awesome. I don't think the atmosphere turbos even have the same housing. :D
