HX35 turbo

Postby crossy » Sun Jan 15, 2017 11:33 pm

if anyone had an idea if the mamba brand billet wheels for HX35 are OK/ they are considerably cheaper than Wicked wheels, but they may all be made in china for all I know? Also there are a lot of numbers there that I don’t understand, 45.95 / 81.30 mm ) 6+6
because I thought all HX35’s were created equal?? Mine is off a 96 Auto truck. thanx- Crossy

The number on the left of the slash is the wheel inducer, and the number on the right of it is the exducer (I believe you have the 4 and the 5 mixed up though, as the hx has a 54mm wheel, not a 45mm wheel). The 6+6 means there are 6 full blades, and 6 half blades.

It being 6+6 means the wheel will be lighter than the factory 7+7 that hx35's, and basically all holset, and Borg Warner turbos have from their respective factories, which is good. It means it'll spool faster if it is the same measurements as stock.

Wh1c/hx35 is 56mm,the I/c trucks h1c is 54.......I have no idea about the non I/c trucks. There's a seller on eBay peddling extended tip billet wheels with matching housing/backing plates in 56,60,62 and 63mm flavors for 250. No machinist, special tools needed. Simply bolt and go

Pete I have no idea if it's China stuff......these days,what isn't? I didn't ask.
This is what I started looking at,I didn't see what I wanted and contacted him. Same wheel, cover and backing plate will be 250$ shipped for an H1C/WH1C bearing housing.

I was looking into bae for the 351 and from what I could find seemed like they was reliable. but there wasn't much out there.

I used a rebuild kit & billet wheel from SP turboboost in a he351 in my 04 commonrail. Pushed way more fuel through it than it should ever have and it held up great. There was a noticeable improvement in spool & up to about 40-45 psi kept cool.

That's what I need for the '97! I also see it won't fit an H series turbo.

Yeah that's what lead me to email him. I thought this turbo on the 82 was an hx35.....turns out it a wh1c. Same measurements as the hx just not the same construction.

Actually, since I replaced the IC and cut the fuel back a little, it doesn't go over 1000*. The bad side is the damn thing still only gets 11-12 mpg in the winter. :( I'm wondering if the timing is cranked up too much. Stupid Pee pump.

Your fuel must suck Pete. Or you drive like a madman. My 96 has been getting 21-23 mpg, 21 with 1.5 left front wheel bearings, front tires toed out, back tires half flat, half seized dry rear U joint, gouged #6 cylinder, smoking 2x as much out the breather tube than the exhaust, and 18 000 kms on the engine oil. A little tune up and the pile is getting 23 US mpg, cruise set at 63-64 mph.
