What oil filters does everyone use? I was running the pure one, then did some research and now I'm using the Donaldson DBL7349 (aka amsoil eao80).

My 1st oil analysis (rotella & pure one) had high silicon indicating dirt. It was 75 ppm. Got the analysis for my last oil sample with delo & Donaldson filter and the silicon is 9 ppm.

I run Wix filters. No testing/analysis to say they are great/suck though

Most oil filters that I know of have the bypass open around 15-20 psi, and a healthy cummins puts out way more than that at start up. So it really shouldn't matter how much a filter media restricts flow, one should get oil pressure at about the same time. If I was rich I would run a stainless oil filter as a pre-filter, a regular filter, and a Frantz bypass filter. I would want the stainless because they flow a lot more and are much less likely to bypass, therefore they'd catch potential debris immediately instead of eventually.

I started running a Baldwin BD7317. It's a 30 & 5 micron in one canister, used on reefer units with long service intervals. I change oil regularly about 5k though with Dino oil. Don't really believe in the synthetic 20k+ intervals

I was going to ask a similar question. My light goes out immediately, but my isspro mechanical gauge takes much longer than I'm comfortable with to come up. Once it does its almost 80 PS cold, 55ish at 180, and gets kinda low idling after a hard pull up a grade when engine is at 200 or so....

Yea I need to get a gauge. I wonder about the factory oil light, mine is on for 3 seconds at every startup. Hot or cold
