rim offset ???

Postby Richie O » Sun Jul 09, 2017 4:37 pm

Ok so I am old and can't remember anything. What do I need for offset and such for my 92 w250. I have a few sets of 17 inch tires around so I guess it would make sense to get some new rims for the working dodge. I am after some of the American Racing outlaw II aluminum rims. I don't want rims that hang out to far, or hit the brakes.

I don't think that you have to worry about the brakes clearing too much with 17's. Can't go wrong with a 4.5" backspace on a 8" rim. Tires shouldn't rub if not too wide (or tall).

I measured the back spacing on a couple rims some time ago. Believe 1st Gen's rims are about 4.25", and 2nd Gen rims are 4".

Those look good Rich, how much they run you? I got a set from Jon and had to polish the crap out of them, but they look pretty good now.

$144.00 and free shipping from Jegs. Click on the link in the above post and those are the ones I got. I went with 17's because I had a almost new set of take offs from my ton truck.

I didn't see the link before, I just looked at the rims. I had to stick with 16's because I wanted to swap my tires over. Should have gone with all new everything because the tires are pretty worn now. Sometimes it gets expensive being cheap!

I never learn either. Cheap doesn't always work well, but I still try.

Yup, me too! :thumright:
Like the leaf vac thing, I can buy a trailer one for 600 or so, but to save money I got a small one with casters that bolts to the tractor, and isn't big enough. Now I went from a 3 hp to 6 hp engine, rebuilt my yard cart to take the blower on the tongue of it, and it still isn't ready to use, plus the money I have into it.

Nice wheels! I prefer 16x8 also because it allows me to fit wider tires without major modifications. I run BFGoodrich tires All Terrain T/A in 235/85R16 and I'm planning to go bigger next time.
