How much timing did you go with? Have you played with the starwheel yet? Mine ran pretty much smoke free, and felt kinda weak till it made some boost. Gave it maybe 3/4 or 1 turn towards the motor and it's way better on the low end now.
Smokes moderately at wot pre-boost, but driven normally it's way nicer to drive now, no more pre-boost bog, and spools faster. Gets up to speed with less throttle input, and gained 2-3 kph top speed for some reason. I wish I'd done the 1 minute adjustment 4 yrs ago when I bought it.
