Anybody familiar with the OBS ford and the 460/5spd?

Looking at doing some trading of projects, and acquiring a 96 F350 4x4 CCLB with a 460/5spd. While I'm not thrilled with the 460 and its thirst for fuel, are they decent engines? Has a touch over 200k, said to have rebuilt heads, otherwise stock engine.

Thought was drive as is, till down the road and swap the 460 out for a 12v, or find a wrecked PSD and swap everything over. 12v swap seems pretty easy, biggest issue is the cost of the pkg of conversion parts if we decide to not build it ourselves.

Thoughts on anything to look for, drivetrain or body wise? Other than the basic mechanical items, what do these trucks always have issues with, the common problems?

That's the Tritons.

A truck with a 460, a 5 speed and 4.10s will pass anything but a gas station.

That's been one of my concerns, is the terrible mileage. All ready feed a 8.0l Dodge V10 plow truck. The other issue is the 6" lift and 39.5" tires they carved up the front fenders to fit.

I would take the quality of the lift kit into account, is it a cheap drop down bracket style with crap geometry, or isit a real lift kit with longer radius arms, etc.

I'll have to ask, I thought the OBS style were still leaf springs up front, least the F250/350.

So my brother is a member now (toobryant) so I figured I'd show off his truck. I drove him down to get it last month and the thing is immaculate.

It is a '93 W250 with an A518 and 116K miles. It was originally a California truck and the previous owner had the frame undercoated so it looks brand new, not a spec of rust on it. It was repainted 3 years ago as well. The interior the "spice" color and it is immaculate as well. Everything works, including the A/C and cruise control and other than the 4" exhaust he just put on it a week or so ago, it is bone stock. If it was a 5spd it would be perfect for me, but he is completely happy with the automatic so that is all that really matters. It is a gorgeous truck for sure.

Deleted emissions BS on my Cruze. From a roll, greatly improved throttle response, horsetorques, etc. From a boosted launch, track verified exact same time. Cleaned my MAP sensor but from a street launch, you can feel it pull the much impressive and intoxicating horsetorques.

Is anybody looking for a donor truck for a project? A friend from northern NY called me today, he got in an accident with his '01 and is thinking of selling it. It's an 01 regular cab, 82k miles, 24v, with a 6 speed trans. The guy is 78 or 79 and is fussy about the truck. It's been well taken care of for it's life. It has a better lift pump, he ran 30w non detergent motor oil constantly at the rate of 1 oz per gallon, new calipers and brakes all the way around, MBRP 4" exhaust. The truck has all the original stuff, starter, alternator, battery, etc. he never went less than 10 miles when he started it, so it would get warm before it was shut down. The body is decent, some rust, but no holes thru he said. He got T boned by some pothead in a Hyundai sonata doing about 80, pushed in the rocker panel and the bottom of the drivers door, and buckled the floor.
He'd like $8k for it, but he said if you are a diesel head and have some common sense he'd negotiate some.
Let me know and I can give you his number if you are interested. (plan on being on the phone for an hour, it was 1.5 for me today, but we haven't talked since '10. lol)
