Ummmm, maybe use the right fuse and clean the window off?
If that's all it took to cook the motor, it's been on it's last legs for a while. I've done the same thing with my '97 and never had a problem.

If I'm not mistaken, he's also the lead tech, at least with the data-logger stuff. He's quite helpful.
