40's? I wish! It was -12 here this morning, high of about 11 today. Enjoy it when you got it!

I saw 62° on my way home from church this afternoon. It was so bright I had to put sunglasses on.

OK, so the new rear-end is finished. Well over 500 miles on it so everything, after being re-torqued, ought to be seated.

Back to what I was doing when it showed it's @ss.

My injectors are big enough that at WOT, they draw enough fuel volume that the case-pressure is dropping thus retarding the injection event timing while at WOT.

I've been running a simple Walbro-392 through an Aeromotive bypass-type pressure regulator set for 18ish psig. At WOT, that feed-pressure drops to 16ish psig.

Not to side track your tread here but I'd like to know how far your advance drops off by loosing 2psi of supply. ive had hell with my 24v Ve and egt skyrocketing at wot.......and making no power

Slick looking pump setup! :thumright:

Actually, the lift-pump feed pressure dropping is indicative of the case-pressure dropping. It's that case-pressure that powers the timing advance mechanism. IIRC, the case-pressure drops . . . 100psig ? I can't remember atm. I've got data-logger stuff somewhere that clearly shows what's going on with the case-pressure.

Keep the lift-pump supply pressure constant, then deal with the vane-pump, etc inside the IP.

Guess I should hook up the pressure line to the boost referenced regulator that's on my truck then.

I need to rephrase what I said above. I can't properly address the case-pressure dropping until I can provide the IP with a solid supply. How about that?
I've not done the boost reference line yet. My regulator is maxed to get 20psig. :?

Well I'll be following along to see what you find.
I've modified my advance to come on later by adding shim to delay it.....sort of like what the electronic trucks do in theory, that helped my heat but not cure it. I'm hoping that by adding the shim and losing supply psi may be the answer.

The fass pump I'm running maxs out at 25....I'm hoping that's enough lol

That looks sweet, should definitely take care of the 2 psi drop. My guess is it won't affect case pressure a whole lot though. Ellis, aren't you running a 7 hole injector? I thought those didn't make very good horsepower, due to poor penetration at higher rpm/boost. I could be completely wrong, but I think if you pop pressure was 4-500 psi higher one could get better penetration with a 7 hole nozzle and a ve pump. With timing adjusted accordingly of course. K, enough sidetracking, sorry BC.

Don't know. They were Eric's injectors in his ve 24valve,worked fine for him. Only variance is the pump between the two setups.....and turbo.

Haven't done much the last few weeks. This weekend we climbed under it just to see what's swinging or dripping. My Ells coming out of the oil-cooler cover-plate are weeping.
The front crankshaft seal is weeping. The rear crankshaft seal is possibly weeping. Can't tell cause the rearmost valve-covers were weeping.
There's seemingly a good amount of crankcase blowby gases coming out of the vent hoses.

The short-block needs the cylinders bored and new pistons.

And there's that drip of antifreeze! Had to replace the water-pump (2nd in 25 years).

Checked/tightened all the hot-stuff, turbos, and manifold bolts. Cleaned/oiled the air-filter. Checked/adjusted the valve-lash.

Still slowly sorting out the lift-pump and rear-truck wiring redo . . . . :?

The local track's suppose to open with a T&T this coming Thursday night. The National Weather Service says otherwise. :(

Dave, what are you running for an air filter? I have an Airaid dry type filter and it's not big enough. I would prefer to stick with a dry type, any suggestions?

Have you thought about putting on 1 of the Case breather valve covers?

I run two of the Case VC breathers. ;)

A little air-filter I made a while back.

With 2 breather covers and it's still blowing by I think it may need freshening up. ;)

I remember seeing that pic now. Do you think that's bigger than a BHAF flow wise? I guess I'll have to fab something like that.
