There’s snow forecast for Wednesday and Thursday, and overnight temps below freezing.

On the plus side I finally have a pistol to shoot. Just a cheap 9mm 1911, but it feels nice to shoot, though it’s only got ~100 rounds through it. Sure makes me want to pick up several hundred more rounds, and make the most of what non-freezing weather I have left.

What kinda hoops does a Canadian have to jump through to own a pistol? I've seen some vids on the subject and have heard that y'all are really restricted on them.

I just noticed the Chevy alternator on my 90 4runner has a 3/8 deep socket jammed between it and the timing cover, holding tension on the belt. Lol.

Yeah, it definitely isn’t the easiest. First you have to do a course, and write a test for your standard possession and acquisition license, then you do a course, and write a test for your restricted pal, once you have those certificates you have to fill out an application, and mail it away with some money. The government processes your application, and I believe runs a background check on you (most applications take about 3 months to process), then you get your restricted pal in the mail. Once you have that you have to join a gun club, for range access, then you can go into a store, and purchase a hand gun. At this point you can’t actually take it home as it needs to go through an approval process, which they’ll mail to you, or email if you can get through their phone line. Once you have that you can legally pick it up provided you have a trigger lock, and a case you can put a lock on. There might be something else I’m forgetting, but that’s the gist of it.

Anyone got any diy methods for descaling a radiator? Do rad shops have a way of doing this? Or would I be money ahead to just buy a new rad? The IC rad in my 90 looks so scaled up inside, I'm sure that it is building excessive coolant pressure at higher rpms, and also running warmer at higher rpms. I figure I might as well deal with the rad at the same time as the heater core.

From my experience, some radiator shops will "rod out" the cores. Way back we had this done with some radiators for heavy equipment. Now they just try to sell a new one because there is more profit in replacing vs. cleaning.

And here's a FYI, I 'll be in a bad mood for a while, on way back from getting groceries this morning my '97 started slipping the trans. Yesterday I hauled my crawler and plows to plow days and back and it worked great, today, not so much. I'm sure it's because my friend said I should spend $500 and buy a JD B for Gabe so he had one of his own and I was actually thinking about doing it.

Yep theres a tax exemption form for those who run biodiesel and veg oil, but to legally run waste petroleum oils you have to get a blenders and pay road tax on the oil.

Currently have 50% oil, 10% gas and 40% diesel in the tank. As long as I give it the beans once in a while its not that smokey/hazey.

On cold startup with the current blend, the truck will idle low (about 650ish rpm). When up to temp I have my idle set to about 850. On straight diesel it will idle about 800 on cold startup. Im only about 3/32" advanced from 12.5 stock timing, do I need some more timing? WMO of course burns MUCH slower than d2

Hey which type of 2cycle oil do you guys recommend to blend for the VE? I used supertech on my 2nd gen with good results

I just used to buy the cheapest stuff, I think it was supertech as well from walmart. I think most diesel is 5% bio nowadays, making it unnecessary to run 2 stroke. Spencer, I think a little more timing would be beneficial burning oil, although I never tried adjusting timing when running oil mixes. So y'all can buy a handgun at 7-11, but need a blenders license to burn a little oil? Lol, I just kiddn.
On another note, I think I will just end up replacing the rad after running some rad flush thru the system to clean out the block before replacing rad and heater core.

I also run the Wallys Supertech TC3 2 stroke oil. It seems to blend decent and haven't had any problems with it. And it's still probably the cheapest at $13 or so a gallon.

I too used supertech tcw3 when running straight #2. I think that as long as the 2 stroke oil being used is ashless its a good choice.

Over seas and elsewhere a lot of 2T oil is not ashless and can coke injectors when used in diesels.

Been a while since I've stopped in. Truck is still hanging in there. Good as ever. Well, mostly. Rockers are starting to go a little but man am I glad I swapped it over to the flat bed. While back we bought a little farm and have been using the truck a bunch for your typical farm stuff. Currently have it stacked to the top of the cab with fire wood.

On a different note, the windshield wipers stopped working. I checked the fuse its good. Is it more probable to be the motor thats the issue or the switch? I haven't had time to put a meter on anything yet to check for voltage.

When my wipers took a poop last year it was the little nylon wiper bushings that cracked/ broke and let go.

Added about another 1/8" of advance this afternoon. Pulls hard on top! When theres enough advance to sufficiently burn the oil and gas (even harder to autoignite than the oil) W85 makes more power than straight crap D2.
