Some of the camera cars they have here can ID you on the fly from 50 yards away. But they are not allowed to use this officially as it is infringement of privacy. On another note, the w250 doesn't want to shut off with the key last couple days. I knew I shoulda pulled the plunger when I did the gov spring a few months back lol.

I bought one of Rykers brass tipped plungers. I haven't put it in yet, the truck was down all summer and now I'm still trying to figure out the trans issues on the other POS so I'm still driving it. I just hope they don't throw salt down yet!

How much for a brass tipped plunger? Although I will likely just throw a shutoff cable on it anyways, it will be the 3rd one with a cable lol. Even the p pump has a shutoff cable on it.

$25, $28? Right in that area. I got it from him when I was at Millers in june. Driving 1100 miles saved me shipping!

Ok getting ready to buy 4 gallons of coolant and a 'stat. I can't recall the type of red coolant I used 3 years ago when me and a buddy changed out coolant during the KDP deal (and I wished I'd skipped a tooth while I was in there, I'm considering doing it this winter). I'm pretty sure it was either fleetguard or rotella ELC.

Anyway, are our old cooling systems picky over OAT vs HOAT vs plain ole green etc? I've read a couple posts on various forums where some guys said certain older trucks with certain seals don't care for modern ELC's?

Anyone want to steer me towards a coolant compatible with the stuff I have in there now that is good with our stock cooling systems?

Remps I had no clue about gen head loads on 110 vs 220, thanks for the tips.

Pete I mainly just want an excuse to have a diesel gen I can run waste oil in

I understand the diesel thing, I like 'em too. ;)

I prefer the old green stuff, but you can flush the system with a garden hose while running and get most of the old stuff out no matter what it is and put in fresh. I know NAPA makes a "mixes with everything" antifreeze. I use it in the service truck because I have no idea what's in it. It's red. Or yellowy, or something.

Solid advice Pete. I’ll hose the unit with the heat on then fill it with something :D

Oh and as far as coolant “leaving” the system over time, is the water evaporating or both antifreeze and water?

I would drain it, pull a heater hose, hook the garden hose to the engine and drain thru the removed hose with the radiator cap off. When it comes clear from the heater then plug it off and just flush.

I don't know about that, I'd be more thinking you have a slight leak someplace. I have seen systems not lose hardly anything in years.

Thank you sir.

Are modern cooling systems sealed tighter for EPA reasons, or any proper working cooling system shouldnt lose coolant at all over time?

Anyone know about how much one can advance before you risk spraying outside the bowl with stock 145 sticks and pistons? Running slow burning oil and even slower burning gasoline I seems to need buncha timing. The engine is still really quiet running on the blend even with the pump almost to the head.

I'm pretty sure with the pump to the head it sprays on the edge of the bowl. Doesn't really matter that much though, IMO. I ran mine that way for a few years, never hurt anything.

I would tend to believe that most cooling systems shouldn't lose anything. That's why they put the overflow bottle on, to catch and recover the fluid back into the system. I'm sure some is lost due to evaporation when it bleeds into the bottle when hot, but maybe that's why there is a minimum line on it? So the hot fluid goes into the cooler fluid and prevents evaporation? Makes sense to me. ;)
