radiator shroud diameter ?

Postby jethro » Tue Jul 14, 2015 11:47 pm

I am building my radiator shroud. It is a sheet aluminum pyramid out of .062 6061.
I added a 3/4 inch angle frame around the edge on all 4 sides to slide into rad.
I am about to cut the circular hole to put in a duct type thing .
I would like an opinion(s) on how much clearance I should allow between the tip of the blades
and the inside of the tubular shroud ???????

I was thinking of an inch might be enough....... but I figure it will depend on just how much the
engine sways left to right under torque .... (which I don't know how much that will be....... )
I am using destroked motor mounts.

Any thoughts much appreciated !

Tim, what's the name of that cardboard sheet like part that covers the gap between the front of the radiator and the body? It's as long as the radiator and about 5" wide, and 1/8" thick. Tools go there when you're working on the truck. I can't figure out the name of that part?
