Time to rethink

Postby cougar » Tue Aug 06, 2019 8:40 am

As more options become available, I'm thinking for trading in the 7X.010" in for a set of 6X VCO between .010 and .012. Fighting the high EGT is getting old.

I installed a set of 6x.012's just before my truck went to the new owner. Controlling EGT's still might be a issue for you if your running turned up pump. Mine was still stock settings on fuel. Star wheel down. Stock fuel pin at deepest.

We had to turn the star wheel up about 4 turns. Turn fuel pin to a less aggressive setting. We had problems with the other settings controlling smoke.

Talking to Scheid, it sounds like they ground the stock pin down. Really don't want to do too much messing with it until the warranty expires. I think I have an unmolested stock pin somewhere to put in it. I also still have my stock injectors somewhere. Everything is packed up, I'm in the middle of moving.

It's less intuitive than I would like, but its okay for the most part. It would be nice if I could change some of the shift parameters and TC lockup to better match my engine.

Boy been a while sense I seen you post. I sold mine in July this summer. It was time for her to go where it would get used. All it was doing was setting. Last year about all it was driven was 12K miles on a vacation with a home built camper on the flatbed. The milage was down to 14 with the camper due to extra wind drag. At that milage I decided to find something else to use as a camper rig. Its still in the family. A nephew bought it.

Yea, I don't get over here as often as I used to. Glad it went to a good home, you put a lot into it.

What did you end up getting to replace it?

I found a low milage 2006 high roof 140"WB sprinter van, it has freight shaker badges. so I am still in a diesel. It has a 5 cylinder common rail engine. Doing a slow build on it as a lite camper no onboard water or sewage.
