Well, 15 years ago, I bent-up some coat hanger wire . . .
Stuck that bad boy over my KDP . . .
That bad boy is right & tight today . . .
That's the good stuff so far. And I've still got to see what's stomping around inside!!
So, I'm pulling stuff off the front of the engine. The engine lube-oil pump's right there so . . (just that much less weight to lift out).
So, as I'm pulling out the pump, half of the lower/right mounting bolt flange falls out. ?????
Pulling the pump on out finds it fully intact and apparently OK.
Looking in the block's oil pump recess, we see a hair-line crack start in the lower/left oil pump mounting boss. It leaves there and goes down to the root of the recess floor and wall along the bottom headed to the right . . .
. . . To the right, toward the block's front crankshaft main-bearing web . . . .
I see where I need to revise the primary-to-block support bracket so as not to have such a sharp fold (needs a large radius so as to flex a little as needed).
It seems the landscape of the next play has changed.
That's about all I got to say right now.
