Anyone have the THD 12mm VE?

Postby spencerdiesel » Fri Aug 27, 2021 6:17 pm

Unfortunately I’ve been out of 1st gen-ness more than ever lately, though I have a buddy who was asking about P pump swapping his truck vs the high output 12mm VE from Eric at The Hungry Diesel.

Having been I believe around 3 years since Eric’s 12mm 643 WHP dyno, I’m surprised I have heard next to nothing about his pump from anyone. There’s a lot I’ve been out of touch on, but does anyone have one of his pumps or know someone who does? I’d just be curious to hear about it.

Hope everyone’s doin alright these days.

I got mine from Scheid Diesel. 12mm head, cut delivery valves, 4000 RPM governor spring, and straight ramp fuel pin. I trust Scheid, they have been around a very long time unlike THD.

Ok, how much fuel can the Schied pump move potentially? Is it closer to most 12mm VE’s or the THD competition VE?

They don't publish their specs, you have to ask them. I can't remember what exactly the CCs were, but it was way more than your "most" 12 mm VE's. Call them and ask them.

If you go over to the 1st gen facebook group and ask you'll get a bunch of replies. I've seen lots of guys say they have them and they run great. Eric will be happy to tell you his specs, they aren't a secret like shieds.

That’s awesome to hear! I don’t have a Facebook, are there a number of guys over 550-600 hp now?

There's quite a few guys up over 500 hp and a few in the 600 range, but not many.

Is anyone here considering one of these pumps? I imagine with that much fuel available by 1900-2000 rpm + healthy timing it might be interesting to keep from lifting the head without o rings (and studs of course)? I don’t know though.
