MPG's Temp? Fuel Type?

Postby Rug_Trucker » Thu May 01, 2008 8:51 am

My mileage when I first bought my truck was 17.8. Lately it has jumped to 20.4.

Is it due to warmer weather?

Or not running B20? Been buying straight diesel from Flying J and getting good mileage.

Can you swap to a hotter thermostat to get better mileage?

I didn't know if the bio mix was less effecient.

I know that my fuel mileage goes up when they switch from the winter to summer blends of fuel. Don't know if switching from bio to standard diesel would make a difference, but with spring time rolling around standard diesel should be making the switch back to the good summertime stuff.

Well it went from $3.93-$3.95-$3.99-$4.07 in about as many days! Still spending less in diesel than gas for my van. I would rather not use the Duster as daily driver. It would get stolen from the lot at work.

A couple of years ago I ran B20 for the summer and my MPG's went down but don't remember how much though.
