Well we been chasin a serious noise around the bellhousing area for a couple months now
thought it was the trans, and or the convertor
new pieces in place and noise was worse.
Come to find out the for/aft crankshaft play is 3/16" or thereabouts - letting the flywheel hit the starter gear when under load
What amazes me is that this thing hasnt blown up yet given how hard I been drivin it - all truck - pulling
400,000 and still able to smoke tires at will lol
So whats involved with a bearing change - can they be done kinda in chassis? or am I into a complete teardown n rebuild?
or shall i drive it n try to git the summer pullin season outa it? only got about five hooks
