If the geometry isnt just perfect and you arent blocked solid a single bar to the bottom can be worse than no bar at all about causing the hops as it actually gets bound up as the suspension compresses, then it unloads and does it again, with no bars and wimpy springs it just squats till the rear u-joint cant handle the angle anynmore and decides to take a vacation.
On a side note unless you have welded up solid engine mounts I suggest you run a cable from your cylinder head to your frame rail on the driver side with maybe 1/4" of slack in it. The first gen mounts are weak in a hard pull. I know because I saw a turbo ripped off one when the engine flipped sideways in the engine compartment when it ripped the mounts in half!!
