stock head bolt retorque, non-I/C

Postby gear jammer 91" » Wed Aug 20, 2008 5:36 pm

I've been reading about re-torquing head bolts to hold 40psi better, and read that the non-I/C trucks have different head bolts and that they need to be torqued differently, or shouldn't be re-torqued at all? Does anybody now anything about this?

In case I have one that stretches, does dodge have new bolts? or would I need to go cummins for one?

I finally re-torqued my head bolts. All went well. I did notice that the top of the bolts had a T+<180 marking on top of them. I'm guessing that's torque plus 180 degrees? I thought the non-intercooled trucks had straight torque bolts? Anybody got any thoughts?

That's correct, it should be torque only on non- I/C . And on the newer ones, it's torque + 90*.
Don't know what's up with the marks on the bolt head. I hope you didn't go that much!

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.
