Air?

Postby 93 welding rig » Mon Feb 16, 2009 6:20 pm

hey guys, checkin oil, fluids and such over the weekend, decided to check out the air filter. there is just a little opening to get air in the box. i mean a small opening. looked for an intake kit for my 93 intercooled.....needle in a haystack mean anything? any suggestions? can you take a dremel tool to the box to open it up anymore? can you connect a different filter directly to the tube? im sure she wants to breathe more air than shes a gettin. :?

Does anyone have any experiance with that intake? Or is it better to just build one? If I should build one, what would be the best way to do it? (Materials and such.)

I will stick with " CHEAP ". I once took a few hours making a valve spring compressor tool so I could replace valves in a industrial 391 FE ford.

Anyway, as far as did I see any improvement?? Who knows. I think at stock settings the factory size is ok. I had already pulled the piece that goes between the housing and the core support a few years ago. A buddy of mine was putting on a 16 cm housing and I also bought a K N filter from his shop. He said that had to go so we ripped it out.

Do you have to run a special filter with the ASA? If so what kind?

Thanks

Each Intake comes complete with an big AFE 4" filter. No custom work is required for the kit to bolt in place - takes about 1/2 hour ;) .

I just took the box off and zip tied the stock filter to the fender. pretty redneck but it will do untill I can get a mendrel bent tubing intake on with a conical filter on the end. ;)

what I did is I got an oil based filter and I removed the original cover and drilled inch and a half holes all over it and put it all back and only spend 65 dollars ond the air oil filter I do have to keep the filter maintaned but that is all, what they sell you is no better but it does cost you 200 plus dollars

Also know as the swiss cheese air box. It will work.

I at some point want to plumb up a hood scoop. It would sound good if the turbo was screaching through a working scoop. :)
