Turbo

Postby Bad93Cummins » Fri Apr 10, 2009 5:53 pm

I saw this on a website i have found numerous parts for my 93 cummins and came acroos this turbo housing, http://dieseldawgs.com/product_info.php ... cts_id=223
Where do you get the shaft, and everthing else to hook it up to my 93 Cummins? also is it worth the money?

Thanks

First time cummins/deisel owner sorry for all the questions and post's.

That turbine housing would replace the turbine housing on your turbo. You would not need to purchase any other parts for the turbo, other than gaskets. You would probably be better off trying to find a used turbo like an hx-35, or the turbo off of a common rail truck, as long as it's not a variable geometry model. An upgraded turbo will give you quicker spool up and a larger volume of air, which will allow your engine to make more power and push more boost when the time comes.

So that turbo housing is not worth it?

It would be an improvement over the stock one for spool up. Are you looking for a compressor housing to dao a 60mm upgrade? That housing is the exhaust side.

It's not that it's not worth it, I spent money on a turbine housing upgrade right after I bought my truck. It didn't do as much as I had hoped. If you are going to leave your truck stock and want a little better spool up it wouldn't be bad, but if you could come up with the money for a whole new turbo new or used, I would recommend doing that instead.

I don't plan on much esspeiclly sence this motor has about 35#,### on the motor and 50,000 on replaced tranny. I just thought cold air intake, some 60hp injectors, fuel pin, 4" straight pipe and maybe 3200 spring, not sure don't want to hurt my reliabiltiy and mpg.

you would definately see faster spool, but that is way overpriced...like the other guy said a used hx35 would do fine but here is a site for the same turbo housing but cheaper

shop around and check the classified before you spend any money

If you can find a cheaply priced HX35 or WH1C, otherwise save up for an S300.
