O.K. I made the turbo fit the manifold today. It was a lot of screwing around, but it is a nice clean look.
First step was to drill the 4 mounting holes on the turbine inlet, so I could tap them to 1/4" pipe.
Second step was to install pipe plugs in these holes( I used the plugs with the four sided extension, than cut off the extention, so I had a complete surface for machining)
Third step was to mill the entire flange flush so I had a nice fresh surface to work with.
Next, I drilled and tapped holes in the fresh surface in the "T3" pattern, using a 3/8"coarse tap.
I installed 4 studs in the turbine, than went to work on the manifold.
If you look at the stock manifold, you will notice that the upper side would work with the new studed turbine(if drilled to the correct size), but the lower part of the flange has blind holes. My manifold just needed that "extra" material behind the flange removed to install the new turbine with studs, and there is JUST enough room to get the nuts in there now.
Now that that's done, it's time for the down pipe and cold side plumbing....
