Twin turbos in the near future.

Postby bigred cummins » Fri Sep 25, 2009 3:08 pm

I was wondering, I am definitely putting an h1e/h1C hybrid over an HT3B in the near future, and will be custom fabricating the hot and cold pipes out of stainless, to match the set of Tubez I got from Tim. Would there be any interest in making more than one set? It will be cheaper for me to do Five, and sell the other 4 than it would be for me to just do one. (Mods, if this is against the rules, please remove)

So that would be a 3 inch vband to a t3 flage correct.

Correct. I will make one in mild steel first, and post pictures, so that all of you can see what the end product will look like. The end pieces will all be polished Stainless, though the hotpipe may end up being coated mild steel.

I think you should go with a s300 with a 4 inch v band flange. The only reason I say that is because that is what I am going to go with and I would be really interested if thats what you were building. I am sure you will have plenty of people interested though.

If you have an S300 you want to loan me so I can make a jig for repeatable results, I will pay shipping both ways.

lol, yeah, you are right. But Id like to do this all in the garage, as my truck is the only vehicle I have, so it would be hard for me to disassemble it to mock things up on it. I didn't mean to sound sarcastic at all in that last post, I was being honest. I guess I could put my Hybrid back on while I do it tho.

Well how much do you think the hot pipes would cost if you made them for an s300. And I was really asking if you like your b1. I picked one up but there is alot of end play and someone told me it will need a new what ever the center section is called i forget right now.

For the money, I would have stayed with the hybrid. I honestly couldn't tell a big enough difference to justify the cost. If all you need is the center section, then I would say go for it. I will find out roughly the cost of each piece in both mild steel and stainless in a couple days. I have to crunch some numbers, and a company here might be able to cut me a deal on a run of mandrel bends.

I really want to just go buy a htt 62/71/14 but they are pricy. And then eventully add a s400 under that for my compounds. There are a few guys out there that say compounds are old tech and there are newer turbos out there that can do what compounds can do but I havent herd the same thing on here. And its funny that the top hp/tq first gens in the world have compounds. Ive fooled around buying used turbos and now i have two turbos that wont do me any good so I should have just bought a new one.
