Leaky Injector

Postby Jfriedlin » Mon Nov 16, 2009 2:27 pm

Finally got my truck goin again but my #1 injector line is leaking like a sift. Is there an o-ring that may be in bad shape on top of the injector or did I crack the flared end on the metal line? If thats the case does ayone know a good place to get replacements?

BTW its a 1989 Cummins

No o-ring in the top, it's metal to metal. Just loosen it a little and try to tighten it again. They don't need to be super tight, just snug. If it keeps leaking, pull it and have a look. If it's rusty looking in the top of the injector, it can be cleaned carefully with some emery and a blast of brake clean to blow it out. Same with the line. If the line looks cracked or deformed, time for a new one.
You can get a line at the case/ih dealer if that's closer than a cummins dealer. Say it's for a 621 loader, it's the same thing.

Most of them. Some of the 4b's had the Lucas CAV, some of the farm tractor 6b's too.

Got my new injector line and put it on today. Seemed to fix the problem and I've got a lil smoother idle now
