While repairing the rat damage, under the hood of the son's truck, I had to cut in two and re-splice/insulate the wires on the truck side of the hood-light plug.
While I had the wires cut, anyway, I spliced in leads to the HOT (black/red-stripe) wire and connected them to a switch that I mounted on the fire-wall, just above the blower-motor.
Now, if the hood needs to be open for an extended time, the switch can be flipped OFF.
Prior to this modification, it was necessary to un-plug at the connector, in order to kill the light.
Please don't tell me if there was already a switch, somewhere, that already did this.
