Looking for Exhaust System

Postby 93DodgeCummins » Thu Apr 15, 2010 6:25 pm

Does anyone know if there is anyone out there who makes a 4 inch turbo back exhaust for the 1st gen dodges? I know about stans but i was wondering if there was anyone cheaper.

Source Automotive makes one, but I believe it is priced similar to the Stans system. Expandit and Bully Dog make 4" systems with 3" downpipes for significantly less than the other systems, so you could look into that. A stock turbo has a 3" outlet anyways, so you don't need a 4" downpipe.

is it 4 inch all the way up to the turbo back and then 3 inch just at the turbo so it will fit?

I believe you can order the Stans kit with a 3" or 4" downpipe depending on your preference. The cheaper kits come with 3" downpipes. The downpipe is the piece that connects to the turbo, just incase you don't know.

And the point of having a 4" downpipe on a turbo with a 3" turbine exducer is...

Absolutely nothing. Some people do claim that going to a 4" downpipe dropped EGT's 50-100*, but I've never seen that to be the case personally.

Unless I'm mistaken, no one makes a downpipe that starts at 3" and goes to 4".

Mine is homemade it hooks to my factory turbo then about 1/2 in out goes to 4in,
couldn't tell any diff in the egt's but it did help the barking a little and sounds very nice
when you have about 18-22 lbs of boost and lift off the skinny.

Parker, you are mistaken. You can buy the Stans with a HX40 style or a H1C 3 inch hook up. If you have the 3 inch outlet it goes 4 inch about 1 inch behind the flange. Philip has a picture of it. I will hack into his photobuckett and look around. 8)
