Postby IowaCummins » Tue Apr 27, 2010 9:17 pm

Alright i am posting the results of this weekends dyno Andrew'Pullltillbroke" hosted. just a fore warning to anyone who wants to make power woth your truck and who wants to put parts on your truck, start with the simple stuff like lift pumps!
My truck has the following mods
IP mods
Fuel screw maxed out will not turn in any more
3200rpm gov stpring "366"
Custom turned fuel pin depth compareable with denny's but leaner fuel to WOT
Throttle lever adjusted correctly, short throw mod done
Star wheel all teh way down smoke screw backed way out
1/4" AFC tube
5x.012 correct spray angle Injectors
pump 3/16" from stock
A1 head studs
.010" head gasket
AMSOIL dry filter
4" exhaust
stock 1st gen IC, tubes and air horn.
Fresh fuel filter and valves adjusted correctly
STOCK LIFT PUMP

Tranny,
PO rebuilt it. holds well but TC will be getting replaced soon enough.
Dynoed with 33" tires

1st run
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwMISqk17pU
212.7 451.5 uncorrected
219.1 465.3 corrected

2nd run
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFfUbq7W-LU
193.8 485.3 uncorrected
199.6 499.6 corrected

3rd run
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8l84X1mBBus
203.6 432.7 uncorrected
209.5 445.2 corrected

On all runs the max RPM was 2700. it was running outta fuel
Becasue of the stock lift pump. and due to the idiot owner not giving it the fuel it deserves!
so parts list includes
Holley Blue
1/2" lines from pickup in tank
Dual fuel filter setup
deleting stock filter and heater
might throw teh pump to the head tomorrw just to see what it does? lol sorry for the weak numbers its a joke i hate them lol

Due i gotta make it to the dyno day in Kearney! i gotta redeam my self in some way. casue right now i swear i feel like im driving a yota powered truck. i feel even shorter now lol.
but hopefully by then i will have all those mods done and new down pipe and maybe some 3" IC tubes and if i could find a ford IC cheap enough do it too

Don't worry I think everyone felt a little let down Sunday :( I know I didn't get the numbers I was hopin for.

I wouldn't worry about the IC and what not right now I would just work out your fuel system issues.I know thats what I'm gonna be workin on.

put the Pump to the head today. wow that really made her pick up power on the top end. i dropped a good 200 degrees on WOT and a few pounds of boost too. running at 75mph i used to be at 11-12 psi and 940 preturbo. i am now running 4-6 psi and 720 preturbo. throttle response is greatly improved above 45mph. can lay into it at 65 and hit 110 in no time now.

Did you get a good supply pump on it too?

IP inlet is 12x1.5 and an adapter to AN10 is available at most speed shops. Then a female 1/2" pushlock to AN10 gets your fuel into the pump.
BTW - the hole in the adapter is kind of small for me so I drilled it out somewhat so it wouldn't be a bottleneck for the 1/2" fuel line ;) ;)

thanks unix, thats what size i was thinking it was. i think im going to be runnign all NPT fittings due to teh majority of my parts require them. on the hose i was thinking of running pre made hydraulic hoses. they are cheap and are tougher than just push loc fittings and fuel hose. i just have to figure out this dual fuel filter set up and i will start on it.

Reason I went with AN fittings is 1st - you don't need to crank them very far for them to seal; and 2nd - you need a REAL SMALL 90* turn at the inlet or else you'll be cutting the throttle fittings to clear lines...
The AN10 90* with the adapter is just under 1/16" taller than the existing fittings.
Plus it's heavy enough that I drilled and tapped it for a fuel pressure gauge fitting.

All I need is more than 1 day of sunshine and temps above 50* so I can drop the tank and replace the fuel pickup and return. The lines are all run and an electric pump and regulator are mounted also. Just need to to the tank end and connect the fittings to the IP....

Maybe next week, clear tomorrow- scattered rain Sat and Sun...

yeah i hear you on the clearance part. I will run that 90 then convert to npt once i get room to a know. for the pick up how are you going about this? Draw straw type? or doing the stock pick up but larger so you still can utilize the sump for off camber situations? like BC847 did on dtr? http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/dev/ ... l?t=151190. i was thinking of doing it that way but then draw straw is so simple lol

I actually scored a complete fuel tank unit for $25 shipped !!!

I took out the blank hole fitting and used a AN10 90* to a female AN10 -> 1/2" pushlock.
The 1/2" is REAL stiff so it won't flex like the original, so I measured the height and cut and fit to that dimension.
I carefully drilled out the plastic piece that fits the basket at the bottom so everything is as close to 'normal' as possible except the 1/2" line...
I'm leaving the return line from the IP as is and using the original fuel delivery connection as a return from my regulator with 3/8" hose.
I read on one of the boards that the IP needed some restriction in it's return to regulate itself so I figure the original line should work.
Besides, as big as my sticks are, I really don't think there will be very much fuel returning to the tank

Beautiful day today - 78* and 10 -15 mph breeze. Started to pull the tank then saw that the showers moved from Sun to Sat afternoon.
I really don't want to be putting the tank back in when it starts raining. Guess I'll wait until Mon or Tues.

oh alright i see how ya did it. sucks about the rain man. that the way it is here too, it seems everytime i want to do something it will rain. then always get sidetracked on other jobs. liek oh yeah i can do 3-4 brake jobs a week but i cant get time to do my own stuff
