Hello all - I finally can contribute - I made my first pulls today with my diesel truck
So we know what we are dealin with its a 91 Ford one ton, with a 5.9 cummins, twin turbo, open diffs, and street tires like an All Terain with 3:50 gears and a C6 tranny.
First class is local 7500 lbs - I had to add 1800lbs of sand in the box to get to 7400 with me in it.
HAving never driven a diesel before I just nailed it like i would a gasser - almost right off the chain - well I hit 50 psi boost, second gear, and then third then back to second and then first - so like 5 gear changes in 200 feet - blew the tires away and it was too late to backpedal as the track was chips wet down n very slippery - so I did like 216 feet on a win of 261 feet - so I am not feeing too embarreassed given i had the tires lit the whole track throwin mud from the track bein wet down. Finished fourth outa six, so all is good. Motor sat on 3350 rpm, 1200 degrees n 50 psi in all gears
Second run is a demo in the Pro Street Diesel class asanctioned pro class - they wiegh in at 8500 lbs, full mods, single turbo.
I eased it out this time in first for 20' then nailed second gear and left it there this time, and hung in there for a tire spinnin 288' two wheel squeal for fourth place. Not bad for being 1200 lbs under weight, and open diffs , street tires in a full mod class
I be smilin n thinkin of what to do next
