BIG ASS PULLIN HITCH

Postby pulltilbroke » Fri Jul 16, 2010 4:56 am

Here is what stillsmokin and me have been workin on this week. Jeff designed it and I have done about 90% of the welding on it and it is not finished yet, it will eventually have another bar coming off the center of the truck and tying in to the "Reese" hitch. It will technicly have a removable drawbar.

This was tonights project, I put about 5 hour into this welding it up. Lotso passes. I put about 15 passes on where the 2" bar stock meets the hitch channel because of the deep bevel I put on there. That was done with a 6011 root and 7018 cover passes. On the gussets I put down 6 passes on the out side all done with 7018.

I think all the extra thinking on setup is really helping the trucks consistency. FWIW, I ran 2.8 just so my wife and my brother in law could see it run, and make a change or two to test the new setup a little more. So 5th amongst some stout running trucks was surprising. The truck that took 4th put 22 feet on me in the 2.8, it has a woodruff 5.9 and a 13mm P7100. Several SJD sponsored trucks were at the event as well.

A few changes and I'm going to start chipping away at that truck length he has on me. But, i will gladly take that pass of 339', if I'm not mistaken that may be one of the hardest passes ever laid down with a VE truck tied to a sled. It's on
