pulling with 3.07s

so last year at my local pull i pulled with my truck with no modifications except for 2 screws on the pump and 4 inch exhaust and did surprisingly well, keep in mind that i live south of boston around a bunch of ritch kids that play diesel with there chipped dmax's and powerstrokes, anyways this year i have much more done to my truck and (shortly) will have a getrag instead of the 727 slipomatic, so im hoping to throw some dirt on the v8 punks with my 20 year old relic, last year i clearly didnt get enough rpms because my 727 will not hold 1st gear im thinkin that pulling in 2nd gear 4low will still put too much load on the rearend but will i not get enough wheel speed in 1st? also ive got some big concrete slabs i can throw in the truck should i? theres no limit on the class just that i have a good hitch and a helmet

any other good trick i should know?

My truck has 3.07's with a 727. I run a 33" tall tire with it and pull it in 1st gear low range. I think on a really loose track if I had a manual valve body I could probably pull a 2nd gear low range start off. With that said I'm not sure if you are asking about an auto or the getrag. What size tires are on your truck? Did you blow the tires free last time or not? To me (I'm sure others will chime in) but if your not blowing them free you don't have a traction issue so throwing more weight into it wont help. If you are going to throw weight in it and they allow you to have it, it needs to be up front. If you let us know what is done to your truck others can help you more. ive got 2 videos on youtube ill get the links, the truck spun tire a little bit but not much because 2nd gear low seemed to be loading down to thruck too much, ive got 33'' brgs that are 12.5 wide on the truck and im planning on making some traction bars because ive got 6inches of block in the rear with 19 inch long ubolts

I have found with mine that when i start out if I hold it for as long as I can to help the turbo come up it makes a world of difference. I think I could start out in 2nd if I had a manual valve body. I've tried shifting mine a few times but usually I regret it because it doesn't recover the rpms fast enough by the time I shift.

well im wondering what the trucks going to be like pulling with the getrqag thats going in next week the 727 is old news and for sale
