who has a 5 speed and Tweaked the Full Power screw?

Postby 92strokersmoker » Sat Apr 02, 2011 11:58 pm

I noticed after putting the pump back on the truck last night and almost bottoming out the FPS, that when I disengage the clutch after a shift it wants to jump hard. The only way to stop this is to let the clutch out like im racing, or slowwwly let it out. other wise she lunges forward like im dumpin it. Anyone notice any changes in the shifting after turnin up the screw?

If you rev it to 3Kish in neutral and let off the pedal does it snap back to idle speed or does it stay revved up for a few seconds? If it stays revved up, turn the power screw back out till it returns to idle properly.

No, my Getrag don't shift that fast. I usually have to hold a little throttle to get it to shift faster.

Sounds like you need to back fuel screw to me. Sounds like it is on the verge of runaway.

If I rev to 3k and let off, the idle snaps down below normal idle and almost dies..then fires right back up. Its wierd, if I put the screw in farther obviously I get more power but a shift at 2200 jerks the truck hard. So I always got to be in race mode and tach it up to like 2500, then she is fine, other wise she is all herky jerky. I even back the screw out a bit and everything is back to normal. Kinda wierd I guess.

sounds like your idle might just be too low? check to see if your low idle adjustment is touching lever when its idling..

It would idle at 800. And that was all idle adjustment all the way down. No more room to take it down.

id say your issue lies in there somewhere, the relationship between full power screw and idle is weird...may be interesting to make a case pressure guage and see what its doing?

my truck dosnt like taking off either, its the gearing in the trans/rear end mostly Ive got my smoke screw pretty far in to give me a little more fuel in no-boost situations like taking of in 2nd with the 3.07's

still with the 5 speed im slower than a tired turtle :;-|:

I'm gonna say you need to back the full power screw out, your idle speed is going to drop also. I almost guarantee it. I say back it out a turn and see where you are with the idle speed, adjust it as needed. Then take it for a drive and report back. And don't worry you're not gonna lose any power backing the screw out that little bit.
