It was a hundred today here in the shade. Very humid too. Its been a rough week. Today was a pretty easy labor day so I survived. Yesterday was almost as hot and I worked my tail off. sweat city. :| But, the ocean is 3 miles from the house and usually 20 degrees cooler when there is a south or east wind. Very nice. Ocean is at 60 degrees. 8)

Captain obvious would like to mention that it is summer time.

I'd rather deal with extreme heat than extreme cold any day.

It's been rough down here. I been mulching rain gardens around parking lots at work. 134+ degree parking lot temps and steaming mulch with 110 heat index temps. I had to take off the last two days for family matters though buts been a couple good days to mis work.

Tuesday I was cooking ribeye steaks at the county fair. The meat thermometer sitting beside the grill read 128*. That was a long 14 hours.
At least we had to to a quality control test every hour or so

We set a new record here yesterday, 101*. Last record was in 1935 and was 95*. I was out all day working on stuff. I sure drank a lot of water! When I got home I just sat in the AC and called it good. Today was better, but not much, about 96*. Not as humind so it felt a lot better.

Of course I'm kinda naturally sweaty any way. No one wants to work under me cause I rain on them

We've set a new record with five consecutive days of 100*F (dry bulb) and above (103*F) temperatures here in central NC. Throw in dew points of 69*F and above, and it's been dangerous.

I saw 107*F (dry bulb) in the shade of my body on the roof the other day (white EPDM rubber). It's a lot more on a dark roof. If the machine I'm working on is working right, it'll take that air, and warm it an additional 30*F.

I've decided that if the boss asks why I'm moving so slow lately, I may just punch him . . . . . if I've got the strength in me at the moment.
