Water Injection DIY

Postby collegekid » Fri Aug 05, 2011 5:24 pm

Just picked up two Shurflo water pumps for $10 each......Both are 2.8 GPM pumps at 45 PSI.....Are these too powerful to put in using a single jet, thinking of the 10 GPM at 100 PSI nozzle......Thoughts?

Snow says water needs to be injected at 50 or above for proper atomization of water an I think the ten gal novel is anbit much but I'm not too firmiliar withnwater injection

Well the pump is adjustable, so i can turn it to 50 psi and run a slightly smaller nozzle, im just worried about injecting too much water or not getting proper atomization

I'd try to run as much pressure as possible. IMO anything less than 75-80 psi is inadequate. Also, these engines can use alot of water. I have a test bottle set up to check flow and check for good atomization. It's nothing more than an industiral plastic container (see through) with a valve stem and a boss to thread your nozzles in. Thread your desired nozzle/jet in, pressureize the system with the valve stem, I normally go to 40-50lb, and then kick the system on. This gives more of a real life look into flow and atomization.
