Leaking IP AGAIN!!!

Postby collegekid » Thu Oct 20, 2011 6:53 am

So I ground down my fuel pin last night and finally put the 366 spring in and took it for a drive. I looked this morning and I'm leaking fuel out the back of the pump (between head and IP). I just had this pump rebuilt by a cummins pump guy 3,000 miles ago, is this normal for these pumps to blow every time you add power to them, or is mine just being difficult.

If you get on it with the ksb engaged you can often times blow out the timing piston o rings.

Im running 15, my ksb isnt hotwired, and I always let it warm up before ever getting on it, ksb just advances the timing when you first start it up and when its cold true?

From my limited knowledge if it's always got 12V hot going to it you always have it energized. It only comes on for a certain point and kicks itself off if it's wired from factory.

pulled the pump top, the gasket that goes around the pump top slipped out of the track, problem solved, hansen, i had my pump loctited together, so it should "theoretically" hold up to 20psi....can someone explain the ksb in greater detail, bypassing it, making it "better" or less of a problem

Can you loctite your pump head so that it doesn't blow out, I keep blowing the gasket around the pump head, also, is there anything else that I should do to the pump as far as tuning or afc stuff while I'm in there

If you are blowing that seal, I would think something, somewhere is warped. I would see if new bolts fix it. Maybe 1 stretched???
