Still waiting on the transmission mounts, trying to source a trans jack at the moment.

Picked up a new custom drive shaft last weekend. $400 with u-joints not too bad.

The truck probably won't see any winter driving. 8)

Got the mounts in.

Trans is a beauty! When i drove the old club cab i could tell the trans was a somewhat fresh rebuild.

The trans jack i've got isn't tall enough.

Got the trans out today.

Couldn't separate the clutch housing, so it had to come off in one piece.

Resurfaced flywheel, no pics of the new clutch. I have a feeling it's going to slip

Dunno if you drove it before those bushings or not, but it was night and day when I put them on my truck. When I revved it before the engine would just flop around and not move the truck at all.

Now when I rev it, it rocks the truck around like it should. it looks almost like one of the coil spring trucks flopping around.

All finished.

Some more shakes and rattles though, don't know if that's common in 1st gen 4wds.

I removed the juke pad, so that isn't helping either. When i removed the floor mat it was soaked so bad. So that might help.

The new clutch held good though.. that's a bonus.

I know people like pictures. Here are some off the pick-up finished.

HELLA lights. Fia winter front is very nice. The grill i just bought, used the same winter front way back, so it just snapped right on. 8)

This is the view from the last pic.

Still squatting in the back. Not as bad as it looks in the pictures though. I plan to level it out either with new spring in all corners or just airbags in the back.

Thanks. Did you put the clearance lights on?

It's drive way better then any 4wd 1stgen i've driven. Steering is butter, the ride is good ( need longer shocks for the rear though).

I think the best thing on the conversion was the crossover steering. I lucked out with the transmission too.

It was a fun project. I think next time i will head to the southwest US and buy a rust free 1st gen.

I was going to get those lights put on, but I have a big 'ol dent in the right front corner of the cab...exactly where the right most light would sit :? so untill I get some more funds saved up to have the dent pulled, the lights are still in the box, sitting on a shelf in the garage
