5x18s....

A few years back a buddy of mine ran 390hp on coaltrain 435s(5x14s) with maxed 12mm h1c with gds 60mm kit lplp and a built 47rh. I only know one person around me running 5x16 but I don't think he ever hit a dyno with it.

The 14mm pump is interesting but I worry about reliability as my truck is an every day driver that I plan to keep on the road til I die ( may not be that long, I'm pushing 66 ) and I tow quite a bit. Anyway if I knew the 14mm would hold up in everyday use I would go for it..........Bill

There are no complete assurances in life.....the 14mm has worked fine for me, and for all people that haven't tried to spin 4,000rpm sled pulling with it. In my opinion, sled pulling isn't for non-automatic VE's.....it is for streetable trucks, and in that case a 14mm doesn't need to spin 4K to go to the store. Even the Rocken Tech versions have lasted in big fuel-system trucks that have run big injectors. Even if they do go bad, it is at full fuel and max rpms, which isn't most of the time. I have taken 1,000 mile trips with mine with the assurance if the pump does go south, it is within my 200 mile AAA range, because I know when I am being an idiot!

I'd also guess that most aren't going for the 14mm because they just don't need it. Once you get to a certain level, sure it may be necessary. Until then, the good ol' 12mm does just fine.

Ill have the HX35/40 Ht3b combo and a cam then to so should be decent on air. Need that dang money tree to grow.

Well ever since me and you were talking about 14mm pumps at the xdp open house last year I've been putting alot of thought into doing it with mine. It should be here in the near future I hope.

I have run a set of 5x18s for over a year, still need my pump refreshed so the HP is down from what it could be, it is 354HP and 749TQ with no AFC. It also hazes all of the time even at 70 plus according to Pete.

Im thinking about going 5x20 when I finally get the time to build my self a 14mm pump...

I think there is lots to do with cylinder head flow that compliments injector choice.... but who knows

I run 5x18s, It hazes bad at an idle and a 63/68 doesn't clean it up at WOT. Still have a 12mm and haven't dynoed or raced it yet.

Edit. I should mention that the lowered compression contributes to the haze.

Me too.....I ran 6x16s with no haze. Then with a .020 head gasket and an Air Dog 165 at 30psi, I had a haze. But it was still worth it
