removing the big thick bottom leaf will help some. i wouldnt do this if you still plan on loading it up with a bunch of weight unless you have overloads, airbags, etc.

I was wanting to know more about lowering my D350 as well. I'm more concerned about the complexity of lowering the front. I'm not looking to do one of those frame scraping the ground jobs, just lower it 3" or 4" inches the correct way. I guess I'm one of the few guys that doesn't want a jacked up truck around here. I use mine to pull my boat, but mainly I drive it to work every day (it's nice having a full sized truck that gets good mpg). I like the classic styling of the first gen trucks, and I love the Cummins! I tell everyone its a REAL TRUCK!

Breeze, the only way I can see it being done the "right" way is either cutting coils or going full air-bag setup.

Air-bags might help you in the "real" truck department too!

I have thought about this also for my D250.

Get somebodies used springs and put them in. I was looking at Meby's truck at SOP and the front is really low, I bet it's 6" lower than mine. He was talking about getting new springs for it.

Does anyone make drop spindles for the 2 wd's? That would be the best way to do it. It leaves all the suspension in its happy place. ( if a 2wd front has a happy place ) ;)

I'm strongly considering taking some leafs out of my rear spring packs this weekend. I just took a utility bed off my truck and it rides like an old wood spoked wagon. I also wanted to lower it a little. So my question is does anybody know what bolt to put in the center of the springs. I'm sure it has an official name, but I'm talking about the bolt that locates the spring on the perch. whats the thread size, head size, is there any particular bolt to use? Or can i use the old bolt and just cut off the extra thread? :?:

You can buy the actual bolt that goes through it (spring center pin or something like that)

But I just find a grade 8 bolt that fits and round the head off to fit the spring perch hole. I noticed them breaking/bending a lot less on my jeep when using bolts vs the spring center pin bolt thing.

Center bolt is the name of it. It's not supposed to be hard. It's job is to just hold the pack for installation and to center it in the axle until the U-bolts are tight. IIRC it's a 3/8 fine thread. No reason you can't reuse it if you are removing a few leaves.

if the srings have any life in them ull have to clamp the death out of them before taking that bolt out....DONT try to take the bolt off without clamping it...
