IC plumbing?'s

Postby 93 W350 LE » Sat Jun 01, 2013 12:47 pm

If I replace the stock tubes from the turbo into the IC and out of the IC with 3" will this help with cooling, or is the IC gonna be a choke point? Could there be pressure issues in the IC, causing damage? I ask because I came across some 3" tubes from a diesel poweres aircompressor, and they are begging to be used.lol.
Thanks.

I doubt it would help much unless your existing piping is restricting flow. Ie if you are making lots of power

Just looking for anything I can do to help keep egt's and all other temps down while hauling my 14k lb 5th wheel.

Thanks

It'll help, egts will go down by at least 50°,least they did with the coolertubz. Engine also seemed to respond well to them by reving quicker, seemed is the operative word here. Biggest thing is to be rid of the stock air horn, everything till that piece leaves is secondary.

Would insulating the tube from the fresh air to the turbo and from the IC to the air horn help anything?

No not that I have heard of. The object is to remove heat from being compressed by the turbo. Insulating the pipes would defeat that purpose.
