One more question. Just got my hands on a wh1c. My egts rarely if ever break 900 and that's only on long hard pulls. What might I expect the 12cm exhaust housing to raise my egts by? I will be towing with this truck. I'm about 2.5 turns on the fuel screw, fuel pin at max. Making about 20 psi maximum

I'm running the 12cm housing and below ~2000 rpm egts are lower and the truck pulls harder, sooner. Above more smoke and more heat and less power at the peak, I'm saving up for a 14cm as it seems like a happy medium.

I ran a 12 housing and found it hot towing BUT I didn't have the waste gate hooked up. Apparently that is the key for working a truck with one. Now that I have read and learned more seems that if the divider is drilled out and the waste gate is functioning properly there's nothing better for a mild ve powered truck.

Great. Can't wait to get it installed. My fueling is pretty mild and my egts are very reasonable. I only get some smoke until my turbo lights up so I'm hoping this will clear it up a bit. No smoke on the top end, just down low under 10 psi or so. Should run pretty clean with a faster spool up

So got the turbo today. It has some shaft play side to side and in and out. Took the compressor housing off and I believe there has been some contact due to the in and out play. Is it toast? I only paid $80 for it so not a total loss if it is. The exhaust housing is really all I wanted, though it would be nice to be able to use the whole thing...

I ran an H1c with a 'gated 12cm housing on my truck for a bit, it wasn't too bad. I had 5x14 injectors, a ported head, and a 188/220 cam, and it still didn't seem too outpaced. I drilled out the wastegate hole to within 1/8" of the edge of the flap and took it through the divider and never hooked up the boost reference, just letting drive pressure open it.

Seemed to do just fine. Obviously I could outpace the poor thing with any real throttle action, but just driving around was easy enough. No having to drive with the pyro while empty or anything.

Never tried it towing, but with an intercooler and smaller injectors I'm sure it would be manageable.

I'll just swap housings then. Don't want to dump a bunch of money into a turbo that's only a little better then what I have. Did you have any barking or surge with that setup? Sounds like a lot of drive pressure. I plan to run the wastegate on mine for piece of mind and drilling out the divider

Nope, I don't think there's nearly enough compressor there to cause any surging. It was a nice running setup, and as long as I watched my foot it didn't smoke much either.

Once you open up the wastegate port that big it provides a lot more surface area for drive pressure to act on the flapper. You can hook the boost reference up but I never needed it.

Success. Very satisfied with this mod. Runs cleaner and cooler. Up to 27 psi max and I now cruise on the highway with 5 psi. Still barely breaks 900 degrees
