I ran an H1c with a 'gated 12cm housing on my truck for a bit, it wasn't too bad. I had 5x14 injectors, a ported head, and a 188/220 cam, and it still didn't seem too outpaced. I drilled out the wastegate hole to within 1/8" of the edge of the flap and took it through the divider and never hooked up the boost reference, just letting drive pressure open it.
Seemed to do just fine. Obviously I could outpace the poor thing with any real throttle action, but just driving around was easy enough. No having to drive with the pyro while empty or anything.
Never tried it towing, but with an intercooler and smaller injectors I'm sure it would be manageable.
