Is it possible that air could be stuck in the fuel system not allowing the fuel to pressurize in the fuel lines?

Yes, that's very possible and very common. To check, you have to crack the nuts on top of the injectors while cranking and crank until fuel is coming out of each injector.

I did crack the injectors. No fuel while cranking and that's with gutted fuel solonoid. A bad lift pump should free flow atleast some fuel right?

Not usually if you have air. It takes a while to pump fuel up with the lift pump. Did you make sure the fuel filter was full? Bleed from the LP to the IP? Loosen nut on the out line on the LP. when you get fuel, tighten, loosen bleeder above the fuel filter, pump some more. When you get fuel there, loosen line on IP near timing case, pump it again. Then do injectors.
Or you can cheat, and run it on ether until the air is out. (but you still need to bleed the injectors ;) )

That's not a bad idea. I can say I have tried alot but not that yet....so tomarrow I will give that a try.

This thing sounds nasty with to much ether. More than one spray and it sounds like the valves are being bashed through the valve covers.

Yeah, it's not really a good idea. I just use enough to get it off the starter, a fine mist.

Glad to hear you got it going. Now you can put the shut off solenoid back together. ;)
Either that or you gotta join the "pull cable" club.
