The manufacturer of almost any fuel pressure gauge says something about running the gauge into the cab because of high pressure fuel. Is this a legitimate concern at less than 15 or so PSI? I wonder beacuse the electric guages are alot more expensive

Run a isolator and a mechanical gauge. I'm not a fan of diesel running in the cab myself. If that line breaks or rubs threw at some point you have a mess. Diesel fuel isn't a easy smell to get rid of from the inside of a cab.

Absolutly use an isolator with mechanical gauge, or go electric sensor.

Thanks guys. The isolator was the piece of the puzzle that I was missing

I got the isolator, filled the other end with green cool off stuff, works great! When I ordered all my stuff from Geno's, they answered all of my questions, and running a mechanical fuel gauge into the cab was one. ;)

Thanks Guys, I will keep the Gauge under the hood. I want to hook up a Mechanical Pressure/Vacuum Gauge so I will know when the filter is getting dirty.

If it's under the hood how can you see it when you're driving? That's when problems like a plugged filter will show, not at idle. Maybe you can leave it long enough to set up on the hood when you need it.

I'd get a electric gauge.

This is how mine is hooked up.

I have a mechanical in the cab, no snubber. What I did is sleeve the line with a larger plastic (vinyl?) hose, right up over the fittings on the back of the gauge. I made sure the line is up hill to the gauge, and the hose ends outside the firewall. If it leaks, the fuel drips on the ground. I also have a needle valve at the filter head to reduce the gauge jumping, and I can shut it off if I get a leak.

That is what I am worried about, a fuel leak and the fuel smell in the cab of the truck.

I was concerned about the same thing, that's why I ran about 12" of the "fuel" line to a isolator, with 1/4" hose, then from there I sleeved the small line with split loom into the cab and up to the gauge. The isolator kit I got said to use coolant on the gauge side of the isolator, it works pretty good, and if there ever happens to be a leak, it will be very small as there is less than 1oz of coolant in that small line ;)

What pressure are you guys seeing after putting a gauge on it ??? I just put mine on this week end and all it has is 7 to 8 psi and goes down to 5 when WOT up a hill and I just put on a new stock cummins lift pump and it only changed 1 to 2 psi it was around 6 before the new pump??? My brother has a piston pump on his rotory it a low pressure high volume pump and it has around 15 psi all the time are those pumps that much better???
