My truck is a high mileage(245,000)unit with a cummins reman engine in it. I have no idea what the mileage was when the engine was replaced. Anyway... I removed the cover, and the pin is not there. It appears that it was never installed. There are no marks inside the case from it bouncing around in there, and no marks on the gears. The pin hole also has a small amount of "oozed" sealant in it, which really makes me believe that it wasn't installed when remaned. The internal cover bolts were in place and snug, but not at all tight. I locktited them and tightened them down. I had no oil leakage at the cover before any of this, so I hope it stays that way.
