LPPLP = WOW

Postby cmann250 » Wed Apr 04, 2012 6:20 pm

I installed my LPPLP and hooolllllyyyyy cow. With my fuel screw border line run away, I'd say my stock diaphram pump wasn't keeping up. On a WOT run, it kept pulling hard until I ran out of gear.

Now you guys have to hold me to it! I'm set on fuel, I have all I need. :lol: Goin after air next 8)

For anyone considering this swap, don't bend the fuel line! Cut more of the insulation ;)

Yeah, just like my first boost gauge, 35lb, was all that I'd ever need. :lol:

I see reference to insulation, what insulation?

I am almost positive mine doesn't have any.

Maybe i need to look closer?

My name for it is tappet cover insulation, but It's real name may be something else. It may be hard to tell because it's rubber on the outside with foam inside and unless your engine bay is clean enough to eat off of, it all kind of looks the same :lol:

Tappet cover insulation is correct. It's supposed to cut down on noise from that area, and it works very well. :lol: It needs to be cut out when you put on the piston LP because the outlet line will hit it.

So if I put the insulation back on, you're saying it will quiet my engine some?

Back on track. I had a w350 with 80hp Bully Dogs. Smoked like a coal fired freight train, but it was even out the stacks. I had the injectors sold before I installed the piston lift pump I had bought 4mo earlier. Piston pump cut the smoke to almost zero. Shoulda just returned the guy's money, lol.....

DP, sure will. Most of the tappet noise anyways.

Have any of you seen any over pressuring issues at higher RPM's with the piston vs the diaphram lift pumps? The piston pumps can get up to 38-40psi or more. What is the limit on the seals of the VE before it fills the crankcase with fuel?

The one I have is not the one intended for P7100 trucks. The max input pressure varys depending on who you talk to. With my luck, my self imposed max is 15 PSI :;-|: I just have a 3200 spring and I don't spend hardly any time up in that RPM range any how. I'll never melt a dyno, win a pull or a race, and I'm fine with that :lol:

I ran 18psi for a year on my old truck with a Walbro 392.
