Front Tranny Cooler

Postby Mike T. » Fri Oct 05, 2007 4:59 pm

Have any of you put a larger tranny cooler up front and mounted it to the AC fins? I'd like to put a bigger one up front but everything is so tight. I'm also wondering if there would be an issues like additional heat. Any advice appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

I just turned my A/C condenser into a tranny cooler. But that's because The Incubator doesn't have air conditioning.

IMHO Being in AZ with the heat there, I would mount a fan cooled aux cooler under the bed. I have heard of but not seen dealer optional coolers mounted under the bed. There are some nice thermostatically switched units out there that would work.
I would not want to add more stuff the the front of the truck. The air already has to go through the AC and intercooler before getting to the radiator. In slow traffic, things might get warmer that I want. More than once I have had to turn off the AC on other vehicles to reduce overheating when i lived in PHX when I really would have liked to keep in on. :)

Moab 4x4

I have a B&M with a fan under the bed now. There are two sizes of the B&M coolers and I got the smaller of the two. I think it's rated at 15,000GVW not sure. In hind sight I should bought the bigger one.. Ya your right it's hot enough up front. I've decided to put a bigger one under the bed. I hate it when I have to do things over 2 or 3 times before I get it right.

Thanks
Mike
