pump linkage lever

Postby el gringo » Fri Apr 25, 2008 6:28 pm

The spring and the pin it pushes on, are about to wear through. This is the lever assembley on the fuel injector pump, that rotates from throttle linkage . Dodge can't help other than selling a new pump. Are these parts available, and from where. Thanks for the help

Any Bosch authorized pump shop. I'll warn you though, it's $50 for 1 lever and $75 for the other. Or pretty close, it was a couple years ago I checked on them. The spring was only about $20.
I welded up the pin, then sanded it smooth with emery paper. No f'in way I was paying that much for a lever!
I did buy the spring. ;)

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

If the next problem has anything to do with too much beer, I can help with that too! ;)

Hey Pete, if you are ever on I-10 and US-95 I alway have cold beer.

I do have more questions though. I want to adjust my valves and wonder the best way to hand turn the engine in order to find tdc.I don't own any tool to do this. Also how much force does it take to push in the timing pin. Mine seems stuck.

Thanks again. el gringo :D

Aaayy, gringo! What I usually do is grab the head of the pin with channel locks, and yank it right out. Then I look in a mirror thru the hole and watch for the depression in the cam gear. Waaayyy easier I think. Then you just push it in a little ways, after lubing the o-ring. ;)

I usually put a socket on the balancer bolts and turn it that way, gently. If it starts to turn hard, wait a minute for compression to bleed off. I could bring the barring tool home from work, but I never remember.

I appreciate the beer offer. I have a bunch of them so far. Some day I'm gonna collect, drive cross country and get drunk all the way! Might take me a month or 2.

Your the man Pete. It worked just the way you said. I now have a better tuned truck. This one saved me lots of beer money. Thank you for the great help. Your beer will be here when you get here.
