16 or 30 psi fuel pressure gauge?

Postby dpuckett » Sun Dec 28, 2008 10:29 pm

I have a piston pump on my pickup, and am looking at getting another Westach fuel pressure gauge (another, as in "I had one on my last pickup, and I'd like another one on this truck"). I recall Philip saying that most electric gauges like to be in the middle of their range. Since the psiton pump typically puts out 15-16psi, that leads me to believe that I need the 30psi, but would it be overkill?

I'd like to add a Westach fuel pressure guage too. How did you install it on your old truck? What all is involved?

I installed a 1/8NPT- 1/4" barb adaptor on the post-filter banjo bolt. I found a good mounting spot (zip tie to the cruise vacuum line) for the sender, and ran a fuel line from the outlet to the sender (about a foot, maybe 18"). Hooked up my electrical wires, and was good to go.

Excerpt From TDR:

"Over time there have been a number of instances where members have offered parts for free with the only request being that you "pay it forward" and do the same when you get something available. We're going to try this for 90 days and see if there is enough demand for this forum. We thought the best format for this would be to have it here in the forums rather than in the classifieds. ONLY items for free are ok to post here and only from individuals - no vendor items allowed. Getting paid for your shipping costs are ok."

Yes, you should generally always be in the middle of the working area of the guage for best results.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.
